Questions, answered
Can any tattoo be covered up?
Most tattoos can be covered or reworked, but the honest answer depends on the size, darkness and placement of the existing piece. That is exactly what the free consultation is for: your artist will look at the old tattoo, explain what designs will cover it well, and tell you plainly if a rework is the better route.
Will the old tattoo show through?
A well planned cover-up is designed so the old tattoo does not read through the new design. Your artist uses the existing lines and shading as the starting map and builds the new piece, often a larger or darker design, so the old work disappears into it rather than sitting underneath it.
What does a cover-up cost?
Cover-ups follow the same pricing as other work at the shop: a $100 shop minimum and affordable hourly rates, with the final price set by size and complexity. Your artist confirms the price at your free consultation before you commit, and can adjust the design to fit a budget you name.
Should I send a photo first?
Yes, a photo helps a lot. Email a clear photo of the existing tattoo to tbatattooswpb@gmail.com, or describe it in the request form with its placement and rough size, and your artist can start thinking about options before you come in for your free consultation.
